Stauber Celebrates Passage of USMCA

December 19, 2019

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Pete Stauber (MN-08) made the following statement after the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Trade Agreement (USMCA) passed the House with overwhelming bipartisan support.

"Today's passage of the USMCA is a massive win for Minnesota's farmers, manufacturers, and small businesses. This 21st century trade deal, which was negotiated by President Trump and Ambassador Lighthizer over a year ago, puts the American worker first. It will expand our markets, generate over $68 billion in new economic activity, and create 176,000 new jobs - thousands of which will come to Minnesota.

"We are currently experiencing the greatest economy in decades with record employment and rising wages, and the USMCA will ensure this prosperity endures for years to come. I am also optimistic that the advancement of the USMCA will help our standing as we continue to secure more trade deals across the globe.

"The USMCA is the type of bipartisan win that the American people expect and deserve from Congress. American workers want to start off the new year with a modernized trade agreement, so I am hopeful that there will be no more unnecessary delays and the Senate passes the USMCA in the coming weeks."
