Defending Women and Girls from Woke Insanity Dear Friend, Title IX was established to give women and girls equal access to education and sports. However, in recent years, the safety and integrity of women’s sports have been under attack from the woke left. As the father of two girls, I've been deeply troubled by stories of women and girls who are losing trophies and athletic scholarships to biological men who apparently “identify” as female. I’ve also been disgusted to hear reports of women being forced to share their locker rooms and other safe spaces with men. It is a scientific fact that men and women have biological differences that make competing on the same sports teams unfair, degrading, and potentially dangerous. To address this disturbing trend, the House of Representatives passed the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act. This legislation will require all schools receiving federal funds to uphold the original meaning of Title IX and keep biological men out of women’s sports and locker rooms.

Defending Women and Girls from Woke Insanity

Dear Friend,

Title IX was established to give women and girls equal access to education and sports.

I was proud to vote in support of this commonsense legislation

It’s really too bad that we need to address this issue with legislation, and even more depressing that almost every Democrat voted against this bill. They should be ashamed that they prioritized the most radical in their party over hardworking female athletes who want to play sports safely and competitively amongst themselves.

Now, if the Senate does their job, we should be able to put a stop to this madness once and for all.

A Major Win for Ely

My office recently received word that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) contacted the Ely-Bloomenson Community Hospital and informed them that they were preparing to revoke their Critical Access Hospital (CAH) designation. This decision was based on the fact that the population in St. Louis and Douglas Counties were growing, and the area was no longer considered rural.

While Duluth and Superior might not be considered rural, Ely certainly falls into that category. Revoking this designation would have had significant consequences for the Ely community. Without this designation, hospital operations would be impacted, and many residents of this community would be forced to travel long distances to receive lifesaving care.

As soon as I heard this news, I penned a letter to CMS, requesting that they not revoke Ely-Bloomenson’s CAH status. Fortunately, CMS listened, and my office just received word that the hospital’s CAH status would be reinstated, and they could continue providing essential care and services to rural Minnesotans. This is a major win for northern Minnesota! Rest assured; I will always fight for our rural communities.

Introduced: Miracle on Ice Congressional Gold Medal Act

Like many Minnesotans, I remember watching the ‘Miracle on Ice’ game and the wave of patriotism that this historic victory inspired. Coach Herb Brooks and his team of young hockey players accomplished the impossible on February 22, 1980, and made us all believe in miracles at a time when our nation really needed it.

Minnesotans played an integral role in achieving this historic victory which is why I am so proud to reintroduce my Miracle on Ice Congressional Gold Medal Act, which will award Congressional Gold Medals to this Olympic team. As we rapidly approach the 45th anniversary of the Miracle on Ice, it is a high priority of mine to get this passed because these American hockey heroes deserve to be celebrated.

Once again, I appreciate you staying up to date with the work I am doing for Minnesota's Eighth District. It is an honor to represent you in Congress. For more information, visit my website, Facebook, and Twitter pages.

Sincerely,

Congressman Pete Stauber
