A huge part of the fentanyl crisis is propelled by fentanyl analogues, which are fentanyl related substances that are chemically altered to avoid being defined as fentanyl under U.S. criminal code. For too long, drug cartels have taken advantage of this technicality to get away with trafficking these substances into the country.
The HALT Fentanyl Act would address this issue by permanently classifying fentanyl analogues as a Schedule 1 substance. This designation will empower our border patrol agents and law enforcement officials to go after the criminals who bring this poison into our communities.
As a former law enforcement officer, I saw the devastating impact fentanyl has taken on our communities. Families should never have to experience the heartbreak of losing a loved one to an overdose, which is why supporting the HALT Fentanyl Act was a no brainer for me.
With this legislation and President Trump’s recent actions to secure the northern and southern borders, I am confident that more American lives will be saved from the scourge of drugs.
REINTRODUCED: Superior National Forest Restoration Act
The Biden administration’s mineral withdrawal within the Superior National Forest two years ago was a direct attack on our way of life in northern Minnesota and threatened our nation’s strategic national security. That’s why I reintroduced my Superior National Forest Restoration Act to overturn this disastrous mineral withdrawal and restore long-held mineral leases.
Once it's signed into law, this legislation will prevent any future anti-mining administration from enacting a similar mining withdrawal in the future.
