Preventing the Scourge of Fentanyl Dear Friend, In his first term in office, we saw President Trump effectively use tariffs as a tool to extract policy wins for the American people. For example, he enacted the 232 steel tariffs, which prevented China from flooding our markets with cheap steel and protected American mining interests on the Iron Range. These tariffs were so effective that they were kept in place by the Biden administration. And just this week, we saw President Trump once again use tariffs to benefit the American people. A few days after announcing tariffs on Canada and Mexico, both countries came to the negotiating table and conceded to work with President Trump to secure our borders and tackle the fentanyl crisis. Preventing the Scourge of Fentanyl

Dear Friend,

In his first term in office, we saw President Trump effectively use tariffs as a tool to extract policy wins for the American people.

I am grateful to President Trump for putting our country first and saving lives. In Congress, we followed suit by passing the HALT Fentanyl Act, legislation to help stop deadly fentanyl from flooding across our border and crack down on traffickers.

A huge part of the fentanyl crisis is propelled by fentanyl analogues, which are fentanyl related substances that are chemically altered to avoid being defined as fentanyl under U.S. criminal code. For too long, drug cartels have taken advantage of this technicality to get away with trafficking these substances into the country.

The HALT Fentanyl Act would address this issue by permanently classifying fentanyl analogues as a Schedule 1 substance. This designation will empower our border patrol agents and law enforcement officials to go after the criminals who bring this poison into our communities.

As a former law enforcement officer, I saw the devastating impact fentanyl has taken on our communities. Families should never have to experience the heartbreak of losing a loved one to an overdose, which is why supporting the HALT Fentanyl Act was a no brainer for me.

With this legislation and President Trump’s recent actions to secure the northern and southern borders, I am confident that more American lives will be saved from the scourge of drugs.

REINTRODUCED: Superior National Forest Restoration Act

The Biden administration’s mineral withdrawal within the Superior National Forest two years ago was a direct attack on our way of life in northern Minnesota and threatened our nation’s strategic national security. That’s why I reintroduced my Superior National Forest Restoration Act to overturn this disastrous mineral withdrawal and restore long-held mineral leases.

Once it's signed into law, this legislation will prevent any future anti-mining administration from enacting a similar mining withdrawal in the future.

Luckily, with President Trump back in the White House and Republicans in control of both Chambers of Congress, we are well positioned to reverse the damage done by President Biden and finally turn Minnesota into a critical mineral powerhouse. President Trump is the most pro-mining President in our nation’s history, and I look forward to working with his administration to get important mining projects across the finish line here in Minnesota, and nationwide.

Great News for Women and Girls

This past Wednesday marked National Girls and Women in Sports Day, a special day meant to honor the hard work and achievements of female athletes. This day was made all the more special by President Trump’s signing of an Executive Order that prevents biological men from competing in women’s sports and invading women’s locker rooms.

My daughters and your daughters deserve an equal opportunity to compete and win. They deserve to be safe. I applaud President Trump for recognizing this, and for restoring commonsense.

An Outrageous Amount of Fraud

In my last newsletter, I mentioned that there has been an obscene amount of fraud occurring here in Minnesota under the Walz administration. Not only did Governor Walz allow criminals to conduct the largest COVID-19 fraud scheme in our nation’s history, all at the expense of American and Minnesotan taxpayers, but more recently, 62 new investigations have been opened into federally funded childcare centers in our state for fraud and other serious abuses.

I joined Fox Business to call out Governor Walz and his administration for their ineptitude. Watch HERE.

I recently led a letter to Governor Walz, demanding that he provide Congress with all documents and communications regarding these 62 active investigations. The Trump administration and Congressional Republicans are committed to eliminating fraud, waste, and abuse, and we intend to take a very close look at the fraud that has been allowed to occur in Minnesota.

Meeting Highlights

sheriff

I had a great meeting with Hennepin County Sheriff Dawanna Witt, where we discussed how we can collaborate to reduce violent crime and combat the fentanyl crisis in Minnesota.

I am grateful to Minnesota Department of Transportation Commissioner Nancy Daubenberger for taking the time to sit down and talk about what local transportation projects need to be prioritized in this upcoming year.

police

As a former law enforcement officer, it is always great to sit down with the Minnesota Fraternal Order of the Police. Thanks to Pat Chelmo and David Miller for taking the time!

Once again, I appreciate you staying up to date with the work I am doing for Minnesota's Eighth District. It is an honor to represent you in Congress. For more information, visit my website, Facebook, and Twitter pages.
